September 2008

September has turned out to be one of the best months so far this year.
The sun has been shinning and the seas have been flat.
Most of our diving activity this month has centred around the Ria of Pontevedra and the Ria of Vigo.
Some of the most memorable dives have been:
Diving the Ivy, part of the hull of a 150 m cargo ship laden with iron pirite, best leave the compass at home!!
She is just off the Estella islands and starts at arond 8MSW down to 20MSW depending on the tide.
She can be dived at all states of tide and offers a good first time wreck dive, there are a few swim throughs and the usual congers, lobsters and masses of fish!
Another of our favorites is the Batea (mussel raft) called Frapelo, enjoy a bimble around the rocky bottom you might see John Dory, Triggerfish, Bass, Bream and on the surface Dolphines. Finnishing the safty stop around the mussel ropes looking out for those small delicate anemonies.
Cies Islands, Bolder field onto sand, look for conger, Wrass, Blennies, BIG spider crabs, velvet swimming crabs and on the sand Thorn Back Rays.
We were able to drop our guests off n the island so they could enjoy the afternoon exploring and relaxing on the worlds best beach as voted by the Guardian readers! (they all cant be wrong). Returning later to Vigo on the ferry.
Meanwhile I ensured that all the kit got back safely.
